Rob Krupicka Wins Special Election In Landslide Victory
Councilman wins every precinct in special election for 45th District of House of Delegates.
Back in 2003, a former AOL executive named Rob Krupicka launched his campaign for Alexandria City Council at Fireflies — a popular Del Ray restaurant a stone’s throw from the Krupicka house on East Nelson Avenue.
Letter: Logical Step in Evolution of Reston
Bob Simon has more company than he may expect in supporting the 23-story office building at Bowman Drive and Reston Parkway ["Supporting 23-story Building," Reston Connection, Aug. 29-Sept. 4, 2012]. I support this project as, in 1978, I did for the five-story building it will replace.
Letter: Defenseless Before Developers
Bob Simon may cling to the notion of seven village centers each with multiple high-rise buildings, but nearly all the rest of us realize that this was, and is, a ludicrous idea on many counts. For one, the inadequate road system Simon created struggles to accommodate existing traffic.

Baby Shower for Military Moms
Virginia’s First Lady, FLITE and Operation Homefront host the event at Waterford in Springfield.
It started with a phone call 28 weeks ago. What happened in between—the planning, the coordination, the logistics, the marshalling of personnel and resources, and just a lot of hard work—would have made a Pentagon strategist proud. It’s a fitting analogy since the recipients of all this effort were more than 100 expectant and new military moms, representing all branches of military service, who attended a very special group Baby Shower at The Waterford in Springfield on Aug. 21.

Going Tropical in Herndon
Primescape Solutions hosts end of summer event.
The threat of rain didn’t deter more than 100 of Primescape Solutions’ employees and their families from gathering for their third annual End of Summer Celebration at the company’s Herndon headquarters on Saturday, Aug. 25.
Letter: Supporting 23-story Building
"Today only one authentic village center and the town center have been built. There are no village centers, other than Lake Anne, with plazas in Reston; nor have the high-density structures planned to support Lake Anne Plaza been built." --Bob Simon, Reston Founder

How To Register, Vote and Vote Early
Election Day is Nov. 6, but you can vote as early as Sept. 21.
How important is it for Virginia voters to turn out on or before Nov. 6? As a critical “battleground” state, Virginia will be key in determining who will be the next President of the United States. Who will represent Virginia in the U.S. Senate is also too close to call. Since polling shows that there are very few undecided voters in the Commonwealth, every eligible voter will want to be sure to cast a ballot.

Opinion: Mindless Slashing
Automatic cuts set to kick in January would harm Northern Virginia more than any other region.
While reducing the federal deficit is critical to the nation's economic health in the long run, the knee jerk, slash and burn method based only on cuts that is coming at us like a freight train will do immense damage to the economy nationally. But no place would feel the pain more intensely than Northern Virginia.
