The pandemic changed the 21st annual Labor Day Car Show into a Wave Parade.

Reston Community Orchestra Holds Season Finale
Concert features two young pianists.
The afternoon of Sunday, May 18, at Reston Community Center CenterStage, the Reston Community Orchestra (RCO) preformed their final concert of the 2013-2014 with a performance featuring two young pianists. Pianists Mark Dang and Matthew Geier performed Haydn’s “Piano Concerto in D Major.” The program also included Grieg’s “Peer Gynt Suite #2” and selections from “Forest Gump.” Conducting the orchestra was Dingwall Fleary, a maestro who has directed Reston Community Orchestra for 16 years.

Potomac: Family Raises Service Dog

As the Geier family of five moves from Potomac to Greensboro, N.C. this month, they are bringing one element of home with them: Pandy, the dog they are raising with Canine Companions for Independence (CCI), a nonprofit organization that provides service dogs for free to people with a broad spectrum of disabilities.

Council gives go-ahead to Rust Curve project.
Rust Curve Project Gets ‘Green Light’
The Rust Curve proposal is controversial, with residents on both sides of the issue. But, believing in the many benefits it’ll bring, the Fairfax City Council has given it a green light. The project entails building a continuous brick sidewalk on the west side of Route 123/Chain Bridge Road between Old Town Fairfax and Rust Hill Place. It also replaces the drainage ditch and deteriorating sidewalk along Chain Bridge Road with a new, at-grade curb, gutter and sidewalk.
Historic Church Gets New Roof
The historic Antioch Christian Church is getting a new roof. The structure getting the new roof was built 1902-1903. Antioch Christian church is located at 1860 Beulah Road in Vienna. The church services include: Starting Point Contemporary worship - 9:30 a.m.; Classic/Traditional worship - 11 a.m.; Sunday School Bible Study- 9:30 a..m. and 11 a.m.

Alexandria Singers to present ‘Road Trip’ concert June 20, 21.
The year was 1975, when gas was $.57 a gallon, the top selling car was the Oldsmobile Cutlass and The Captain and Tennille’s “Love Will Keep Us Together” topped the Billboard charts. It was also the year that 16 Alexandria residents got together to form the group known today as The Alexandria Singers.
