Where the past meets the present: Springfield resident returns to Vietnam, writes a book.
As Robert (Bob) L. Bob Tecklenberg got off the plane the familiar tropical heat and landscape triggered memories of long ago when he was just 19-years-old, and in Vietnam. He, like many other veterans, wanted to know what happened to the country and its people. Tecklenberg began his personal journey by going back to Vietnam twice, once in 2003 and then again in 2004.

Veteran fastpitch softball player and coach Jordan Foster says she’s ready for the challenge of leading the Herndon Reston Youth Softball League as Commissioner Bob Thomas retires and a new slate of officers takes the helm. The growing girls' fastpitch softball league, serving players ages 6 to 18 in the greater Herndon-Reston area, will take on Foster to take the baton from Bob Thomas, who helped build a good name for the league.

State PTA Volunteer of the Year
Del. Tim Hugo attended the April PTA meeting at Union Mill Elementary to present Kate Trussell with a proclamation from Gov. Bob McDonnell recognizing her as the Virginia PTA volunteer of the year. Hugo commended Trussell for coordinating our Bread Basket program that made over 11,000 sandwiches for Food for Others last year. As of this year, students at Union Mill have already made almost 13,000 sandwiches for Food for Others. Above, with Trussell are her husband, Jeff, and daughter, Sarah.
