The Youth Arts Festival has reached a significant milestone in the impending celebration of its 5th year in existence this June 7. The festival is a testament to the spirit of partnership and collaboration with Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority in partnership with The Alexandria Department of Recreation and Cultural Activities, the Alexandria Commission For the Arts, Alexandria City Public Schools, DASH Bus, Northern Virginia Urban League and The Campagna Center. Superintendent Scott Brabrand releases Board decisions.

Superintendent Scott Brabrand dashed any remaining hopes of summer in-person commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2020. After receiving results from high school students and parents on his Survey on Graduation Preferences, Brabrand said the School Board agreed on his recommended approach. They committed to celebrating the seniors "in the safest and most personalized manner possible."

District Indoor Track and Field Championships Completed

South Lakes boys win Liberty ahead of second place Langley; Oakton girls capture Concorde crown.

The South Lakes High indoor track and field teams were victorious on both the boys’ and girls’ sides at the recent Liberty District championships, held over two days at the Prince George’s County Sportsplex in Maryland. The first day of postseason competition took place on Friday, Jan. 27. The second and final day of action was held last Thursday, Feb. 2.
