Marshall High Students Win DECA Competition

A three-student team from Marshall High School won first place at the DECA International Career Development Conference held last week in Salt Lake City. Annie Greenwood, Art Kapplow, and Ali Skahan took top honors for their Entrepreneurship Promotion Plan. Marshall High School is a Fairfax County public school.

Madison High Places Third at State Scholastic Championships

On the weekend of March 17 and 18, the Madison Chess team played six rounds of outstanding chess at Tysons Corner and took home the 3rd place trophy. Individual trophy winners included Paul Psarakis for 15th place, John Nothaft –best under 1200 rated-player, and Ben Ostapovicz–best under 1000, Raphael Ordonez–Best Unrated.

Flint Hill Students Offer Support in ‘Relay For Life’ Event

Team comes in first place for fundraising efforts.

Thirty-one Flint Hill School (FHS) students, guided by Biology teacher Cyndi Hoffman and supported by four faculty members and an FHS parent, raised $7,745 as part of George Mason University’s overnight "Relay for Life" event on Saturday, April 21, in support of the American Cancer Society. Their efforts earned them first place in fundraising for the program.

Colvin Run To Hold Fun Run

Colvin Run Elementary School will be holding its Sixth Annual Fun Run on Saturday, May 5, from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. It is being billed as "a super event that provides exercise to participants and financial support to charitable organizations."
