USA Fencing Recognizes Vienna Teen as Bronze Winner

USA Fencing has announced the 2019-20 Regional Recognition Program winners. Vienna Youth, Chelsea Hu, a freshman at BASIS Independent McLean and an elite fencer at Advanced International Fencing Club in Herndon, was honored by USA Fencing as the Bronze Winner in Women’s Youth Epee in Region 6 that comprises 12 states: West Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida. The Regional Recognition Program honors the top three fencers during the season on the Regional Youth Circuit (RYC) in each region. The recognized athletes receive a gold, silver or bronze patch in honor of their achievement. Chelsea is the only female fencer in the Commonwealth of Virginia who received the honor in this category.

Chelsea has also acquired her National Ranking from USA Fencing in 2020. She is currently working towards qualifying for Junior Olympics Fencing next year.
