Emmanuel Lutheran Church hosted a “Serving the Servants” luncheon Sunday, Sept. 7, to honor staff from Fairfax County nonprofits who work to meet the needs of some of the county’s poorest residents. U.S. Representative Gerry Connolly (D-11), Fairfax Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova and Fairfax County Sheriff Stacey Kincaid all attended the event held in conjunction with the church denomination’s Day of Service and gave the crowd some strong words of support.

Nonprofits in attendance for the afternoon of food, children’s activities and live music included representatives from the Committee for Helping Others (CHO), FACETS, Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia, the Lamb Center, Our Daily Bread and Shelter House.
